The Opportunity

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Auditor to join us at our Bristol head office on a full-time, permanent contract.

Internal Audit plays a vital role in supporting the Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and senior management by providing analysis, advice, and recommendations on our corporate governance structure and internal control environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a key contributor to the delivery of the TBUK Internal Audit plan while also collaborating with the wider Group Internal Audit team.
  • Proactively assist the Director of Internal Audit, TBUK, in fulfilling their responsibilities, including senior relationship management and Board reporting.
  • Act as a role model for Internal Audit and Triodos, both internally and externally.

We offer flexible, hybrid working arrangements - typically requiring two days per week in our Bristol office, with the option to work from home on other days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, perform, and coordinate complex audits, ensuring alignment with the annual audit plan and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare high-quality reports on audit findings, communicate recommendations, and monitor progress on agreed actions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in at least one key risk area (e.g., credit, compliance, IT, operational risk) and contribute up-to-date knowledge to audit activities.
  • Supervise, coach, and provide feedback to audit team members, supporting their professional development.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department and contribute to the development and maintenance of Internal Audit policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs.
  • Support the Director of Internal Audit with special tasks, investigations, and participation in external committees or working groups.
  • Deliver clear and timely reporting to executive and board committees through high-quality management information packs.
  • Promote Triodos’ brand and mission through professional networking and engagement with industry bodies.

What We Are looking for

A professional qualification as a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, UK or international) and/or an audit qualification in financial, operational, compliance, or IT auditing (CIA, CISA, CPA, PIIA, MIIA or equivalent) is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in internal audit or with a multinational audit firm, preferably with a focus on the banking sector. Experience in the financial sector, particularly within banks or similar institutions, is desireable, alongside a strong commitment to the values and mission of Triodos Bank.

Competencies required include:

  • Strong expertise in at least one of the following: IT, Credit Risk, Compliance, or Operational Risk Management.
  • Good knowledge of UK banking sector regulatory frameworks (such as CASS, Operational Resilience, Consumer Duty, Regulatory Reporting).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to prepare risk assessments, develop work programmes, perform audits, and write clear reports.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong coaching skills to support the development of more junior team members.
  • Experience working in an international environment is desirable, as is a willingness to travel and work in different cultural settings (approximately 10 working days per year).

Offer

In return for your hard work and expertise, you will receive a competitive full time equivalent salary of between £65,000 and £72,000 depending on experience, plus access to our extensive benefits package, where most of our benefits are non-contributory.
